“Twelve” Trio – 7 & 9 July

 Jeanette Micklem – Piano; Bulent Evcil – Flute; David Pinoit – Cello

Friday 7th at 6pm and Sunday 9th July at 11.30am at St. John’s College.

Tickets, $12 (concessionary $10, students in uniform free) are available from the Spotlight or at the door (POS available).

Full cash bar and snacks available an hour before and after the Friday evening concert; Tea/Coffee and light snacks available an hour before the Sunday concert.

The programme for both concerts is:

Haydn: Trio in D major

Beethoven: Sonata in a major op.69 for cello and piano

Paul Renan: “The Songs of Cush” – the premiere of 3 pieces for flute and cello specially commissioned for this concert.

Two pieces for flute and piano:

Pietro Merlacchi (1828 – 1868): Il Pastore Svizzero (The Swiss Shepherd)

Francois Borne (1840 – 1920): Fantasie Brilliante sur Carmen

Kuhlau: Trio in G major.

Jeanette Micklem (Zimbabwe) is well known to Zimbabwean audiences for her solo, duo and chamber music recitals as well as for accompanying visiting International artists.

Bulent Evcil (Turkey)is the principal flutist in the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and has been described by the legendary James Galway as one of the best flutists of his generation.

David Pinoit (France) performs regularly at European Music Festivals and in 2006 won the first prize for chamber music in the Avallon Trio Piano Competition.


Masterclass (flute and cello) – Saturday 8 July at 10am at 6 Princes Close (off Piers Rd.,). Intending participants (grade 4 standard and above) should pre-register with Jeanette Micklem by ringing 0774 350 711.
