College | Sports This Weekend

Dear Parents,

Please find below the weekend sports programme for Week 4.

Please note the Basketball venue has changed from St John’s High (Emerald Hill) to home fixtures here at the College.

We are still waiting for a programme from Peterhouse for the U15 Basketball Festival being held at Peterhouse on Saturday. As soon as this is received it will be distributed to the players.

As always Cricket and Tennis hang in the balance and are dependent on weather conditions.

The ground staff have been working as hard as they can to prepare our Cricket wickets for this weekend’s fixtures, and at the time of writing we are in a good place and should be able to finally get some field Cricket in. The only thing that can disrupt us now is if we have extremely heavy rains on Friday night or Saturday morning. Word from Hellenic and Peterhouse is basically the same story, so fingers crossed we should be able to play. We have once again made contingency plans with both Hellenic and Peterhouse, that should we not be able to play, we will go and play Indoor cricket. It is not ideal but at least some sort of Cricket can be played this weekend. If we do end up going to the Indoor centre again a schedule will be distribute through the players and various WhatsApp groups.

All Waterpolo is at St John’s this weekend apart from the 1st Team who are travelling to Bulawayo to compete in the Arthur Gower National Tournament. Mrs Jordaan, who is looking after the catering this weekend at the Pool has asked if there are any willing Mums and Dads who may be able to help her out over the course of the weekend. If you are able to help, please drop me an email and I will forward your details on to her.

As always, should you have any queries or require any further clarification on any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me at sports@stjohns.co.zw .

Kind regards,

Steve Macdonald
