Malcolm Lake and Kieran Geyle returned at the end of August after participating in the ICC Under 19 World Cup Cricket Tournament, held in Brisbane, The Sunshine Coast and Townsville, Australia. They were part of a squad of 15 players selected to represent Zimbabwe.

Although the team did not do as well as expected, coming 15th, they accredited themselves well against some of the strong sides they were drawn to play against. Both India, who went on to win the tournament in a final against Australia, and West Indies were in the same group in the pool  stages, but the team acquitted itself well in both these games, held in Townsville. Having bowled well in the Indian innings, Malcolm went on to make a memorable 118 leaving the team just 64 shy of a victory. This was the fifth highest individual score in the entire tournament. Kieran took two wickets in the opening over against West Indies, although that match was also a loss. Of the eight games played in total, the Zimbabwe team won 3, several of them very close games.
